On my retirement in 1995 I hoped to become a volunteer Peak National Park Ranger but at that time at 65 I was too old. However I was invited to join in as a visitor and have been walking with the Ranger Patrols for the last ten years. It started a new life for me and made friends with all the Rangers at Longdendale. During 1999 I walked a total of 2500 miles around the Peak District. On new year`s day 2000 I left my home in Glossop at 5am and walked up to Kinder Scout by torchlight in thick mist to see the sunrise and do the `Kinder Edges` On arriving in the clear at dawn I saw all the surrounding peaks popping up as if floating in the sea of mist. The sun rose over the sharp mist horizon at 10am and it was a sight that i`ll never forget.
My hobbies are walking with my friends,making and editing videos, photography and tinkering about in the garage making all sorts of things ! Generally - Jack of all trades, master of none. Finally, many thanks to Piczo.com for this free website, where we can share our photos with others who are unable to venture out into our beautiful countryside.
