Thanks Bob for the advice, planning to go Wednesday subject to weather of course, map & compass in hand. I see from Google earth there is car parking just off Snake pass/Pennie way which will get me close. Will let you know how I get on. May also try and get to 1951 wreck site on Thursday. Thanks again Gordy

To Gordy from Highpeakbob. The nearest crash site is the B29 near Higher Shelf Stones near the Trigpoint.Park at the top of the Snake Pass and walk up the Pennine Way for about 1 and 1/2 Kms,then turn left and head for the high ground. The distance to the site is about 2 and 1/2 Kms. You will need a map and compass. I advise you to go on a clear day. The Grid.ref is on the Photos.
Tell someone where you a going before you leave home !
If you need further information please contact me again.

Hi, I visited the crash sites of both the Avro Anson and the Dragon Rapide on kinder yesterday - 13th April 2008 - and whats there now is quite different to your pictures, the avro seems to be sinking, theres very little left othere than the two engines and all the wreckage at the dragon rapide site has been put into a big pile. When did you take these photos? id be interested to know how fast the sites are dissapearing.

Thanks, Steve

I think your photos of the Tintwistle Hurricanes are actually of the the P38 Lightning. The Hurricanes are at SK0356998893 while the P38 is at SK0393299080. Both these GR are taken from the recently published Peakland air crashes by Pat Cunningham isbn 1 -84306-330-1. Thanks for the web site, I will be after your letter box before to long.
